Guidelines after dental surgery
The guidelines after surgical interventions are essential to guarantee patient safety and the success of the procedure.
- Apply local cooling to the external zone intermittently over several hours (using ice cubes wrapped in a cloth).
- In the first few hours, do not eat any hot food or drink any hot beverages. You can drink water.
- After a few hours you can eat soft/liquid foods, but not hot food on the first day. Over the next few days you can eat any type of food that is not too hard that may affect the wound.
- Do not smoke or do any strenuous activity for a few days.
- If the wound bleeds, press down on the zone with a dry gauze with your mouth closed for 15 – 20 minutes
- Do not rinse your mouth energetically for the first few hours to avoid removing blood clots and causing bleeding.
- You may have post-operative pain that can be reduced with the prescribed treatment.
- Swelling and bruising is normal. In implant surgery, wisdom teeth and periodontal treatment they may be significant.
- In the first few days it is important not to take aspirin as an analgesic, as this may cause bleeding.
- If you have any problem with the surgery, do not hesitate to call us.
- Teeth that have been removed, except for wisdom teeth, must be replaced before 8 months. This will maintain the appearance of your face and will preserve the normal functioning of the remaining teeth and the whole of the digestive system.
